The City College Quiz Bowl Club

"Quiz bowl is a game in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge. It can be thought of as “Team Jeopardy”, but the questions are for more academic-based and players can buzz in before the question is finished, allowing for a higher degree of competiveness. Many colleges throughout the country engaged in Quiz Bowl tournaments through a national governing body called NAQT (National Association of Quiz Tournaments).

The purpose of the City College Quiz Bowl Club will be to get City College Students involved in Quiz Bowl and participate in Quiz Bowl Tournaments. The club will introduce students to Quiz Bowl and host intramural tournaments where the students can be participants are spectators. To aid students, the club will also host practices and hold general meetings where students can work to get better, earn experience, and become more familiar with Quiz Bowl questions.

Quiz Bowl is a great activity that promotes active learning while providing a fun, enjoyable, competitive experience. The ultimate goal of the City College Quiz Bowl Club is to develop students that can compete in regional, and possibly national, tournaments. With success, students can bring respect and glory to City College and publicize and spread the College name in these prestigious, high-level tournaments, where colleges like MIT, Harvard, Cornell, Princeton, and Yale compete."
